Our Suppliers
At VIMPELOVA, we create clothing from natural fabrics only.
They come with so many advantages and benefits. Both plant-based and animal based textiles are nicer to the skin, durable, breathable and absorbent. Often they are more environmentally friendly than synthetic textiles. When untreated (i.e. unbleached, undyed) they can decompose easily once discarded at the end of their lifecycle.
Fabrics from organic farming and production, free of harmful chemicals, is our choice.
The majority of the fabrics we use come in organic qualities from sustainable suppliers certified with The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). In the few cases where we use non-organic materials we clearly indicate it in the product description. For example, we haven't yet found sustainable alternative to "interfacing". We work with plant based fibres, such as organic cotton and organic linen. Our finer items are made out of organic silk. In future we hope to incorporate mulesing-free wool and Tencel - a man-made fabric made from cellulose (tree bark) in a sustainable and circular production process by the Lenzing Group.
Transparency is a key.
As a responsible fashion brand we want to be transparent about our supply chain. With our small-scale production and made-to-order we mostly work with suppliers who offer smaller quantities. This way we avoid having surplus stock and only make what we can sell.

Ecological Textiles, NLWe love Ecological Textiles as it only works with natural materials (cotton, linen, wool, hemp, silk), which in most case come with GOTS certifications.
Their cotton fabrics are produced in Turkey, conform their specs, in factories with which they have a close working relationship. Turkey is not only the nearest cotton producing country, thus reducing the carbon footprint of transportation, it is also a country where GMO has never been an issue and where the cotton is of excellent quality. Many of our cotton fabrics, both woven and jersey, are supplied by Ecological Textiles. We use them in our Long Sleeve Pleated Shirt Dress in White Cotton and Straight Leg Trousers in Black Twill. Libeco, BELibeco is a Belgium based weaving mill focusing on using a single raw material - linen. Established in 1858 and carrier of linen quality labels such as 'Masters of Linen', this company has introduced GOTS certified organic linen collection in 2014 to conform with their sustainable goals. At least 85% of flax used in their production of linen comes from Europe.
All our linen fabrics used in our collection, Before Falling Asleep come from Libeco. These are also certified organic according to GOTS standard. Like our Linen Midi Dress in Black or Linen Jacket with Textured Yoke in Stone Beige. We find Libeco linen of the highest quality, breathable, durable and simply perfect to work with. Knowing that linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics, we are planning to extend the use of linen in our future collections. The whole process of linen production happens in close proximity, in the historic flax region of Northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The flax is grown in France, which is then spun into yarn and woven into fabric right here in Belgium so the carbon footprint is minimised.
