Our Women's Measurement Guide
On this page you will find few tips on how to take your BODY and a GARMENT measurements.
When ordering made-to-order or made-to-measure with us, we might ask you to take your body measurement to determine whether we have your size or whether we need to make a custom pattern with your measurements. This way you will receive VIMPELOVA dress, trousers or any other item we offer for customising, that is made uniquely just for you. We all come in different sizes, shapes, proportions and even disproportions that the normalised sizing system often doesn't work for everyone.
How many times you bough a dress that fits your torso and hips but is super tight around your shoulders? Or a pair of trousers that fit your hips but are falling off your waist?

MEASURING
01 BUST CIRCUMFERENCEPlace the measuring tape around your body over the fullest part of your bust, making sure the tape is sitting well under your arms and spans your shoulder blades. For better accuracy measure over a bra you intend to wear with the given dress or top.
02 WAIST CIRCUMFERENCEMeasure around the slimmest part of your natural waistline - generally the point where your body creases when you bend slightly forwards or where you find it most comfortable to wear your waistbands.
03 HIP CIRCUMFERENCEStanding with your feet together, measure around your hips at the widest point - usually over your bottom or at the top of your thighs - and approximately 20cm (8in) below your natural waistline.
04 FRONT WIDTHMeasure across the top of chest, parallel to the floor from one arm to the other arm. Or from armhole to armhole. Find the armhole guideline (red dotted line) by tracing a line from armpit to shoulder point.
05 SLEEVE LENGTHBend your elbow slightly and measure from the shoulder point down through the back of your elbow and finish at the wrist bone. Be careful not to measure too high above the wrist or the sleeves will be too short!
06 TOP ARM CIRCUMFERENCEMeasure tightly around your fullest top part of arm - biceps.
07 WRIST CIRCUMFERENCEPlace the tape around your wrist bones and measure tightly.
08 SHOULDER TO WAISTBefore you start measuring find a ribbon and tighten it around your natural waist. Then start measuring vertically from at the shoulder neck point, down the apex and finish at your natural waist.
09 NECK BASEMeasure around the circumference of the neck base. At back over your nape and at front just above the collar bones. Please note: don't take it too high up your neck!
10 HIP DEPTHTie a cord or a ribbon around your natural waist. Measure on the side from your natural waist to the hip line (the widest point).
11 OUTER LEGFirst tighten a ribbon around your natural waist. Then measure on the side from your natural waist to the floor. For trouser length measure till the ankle or where you want your trousers or skirt length to hit. Add a heel length should you want your garment extra long.
12 INNER LEGMeasure from the top of your inside leg at the crotch vertically to the floor. To know your trouser inseam size, stop at your ankle.
13 BACK SHOULDER WIDTHMeasure in a slightly curved line from one edge of your shoulder point (your shoulder bone point or where a fitted sleeve seam would be) through the base of your back neck to the other shoulder point.
14 BACK WIDTHMeasure parallel to the floor across the back from one arm (armhole) to the other arm (armhole). Find the armhole guideline (red dotted line) by tracing a line from armpit to shoulder point.
15 BACK LENGTHTie a cord or a ribbon around your natural waist and measure from your back neck base (the prominent point of your 7th vertebrae ) vertically to your natural waist line.
16 NAPE TO WRISTBend your arm slightly. Start at the back of your neck base (nape) and place the tape horizontally measuring to the outer shoulder point, then carry on over the elbow and stop at the wrist bone.
17 RISE DEPTHTie a cord or a ribbon around your natural waist and sit straight in right 90 degree angle on a flat sturdy chair or a table. Now measure vertically from your natural waist to the chair (table) surface.
18 HALF GIRTHThe half girth measurement (dashed line) is following the crotch seam: tighten a ribbon at your natural waist. Measure vertically from you front natural waist, passing through crotch and ending at the back natural waist.
19 FULL GIRTHThe full girth measurement (full line) is useful for jumpsuits and other garments alike. To measure, start at the front shoulder neck point, going down in slight angle through crotch and up at the back to meet at the shoulder neck point on the same side as you started.
